Elina Duni (ALB)

Elina Duni has already released two albums with her jazz quartet, for both of which she received equally enthusiastic reviews. Now she has broken new ground and with “Partir” she has recorded a completely solo album for the first time. Without a doubt, it is her most intimate work to date. The Tirana-born singer interprets a wide variety of songs from various sources and accompanies herself on the piano, guitar or frame drum. Traditional music from Albania, Kosovo, Armenia, Macedonia, Switzerland and Arabian-influenced Andalusia can be found on Partir. But also songs like “Je ne sais pas” by Jacques Brels, “Meu Amor” by Alain Oulmans or “Let Us Dive In”, which she wrote herself. A feeling of longing runs like a red thread through all songs – triggered by Duni’s unique voice and the reduced arrangements. Partir was recorded at Studios La Buissone in southern France and produced by Manfred Eicher.
