D\u2019Kiahm\u00f6cha (AT)<\/span><\/h3>[vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1583408236084{padding-right: 50px !important;}”]The group that goes by the name of \u201cD\u2019 Kiam\u00f6cha\u201d (Austrian dialect for \u201cthe milkers\u201d) first met on 6 January 1998 in G\u00f6stling. Back then, the intention was primarily to preserve the traditional songs and yodels of the \u201cEisenstra\u00dfe\u201d and \u201cPhyrn\/Eisenwurzen\u201d region. For this reason, we met elderly residents and recorded their songs and yodels. We would like to express our gratitude to Hubert Mandl who helped us learn several yodels. He was able to recall all three voices of many pieces by heart \u2013 impressive, not only for a 70-year old.
\nAnother very important person for the group was Engelbert Krenn, a.k.a \u201cRiesner Engl\u201d. He was a gifted singer and musician who passed on numerous songs and lyrics. Our current CD contains a track dedicated to him as he rehearsed the song with us and even added a verse to it.
\nApart from all the persons who taught us their songs, we would like to thank Johann Paumann, who helped us refine our presentation in our early years.<\/p>\nOur first performance in public was a quite prominent one \u2013 it was the time when Austria took over the presidency of the council of the EU in July 1998 \u2013 we had the honour to sing in front of international cameras in the Vienna Hofburg.
\nAll members of the group are active hunters, thus we feel strongly connected to nature, hunting, and the surrounding traditions. This connection is reflected not only in our music, but also in our attire. Each of us is wearing their a personal, valuable hunting trophy on their hats in memory of a particular hunting adventure.
\nThe original cast has changed over the years. Founding member and enthusiastic musician Engelbert Krenn, a.k.a \u201cRiesner Engl\u201d has passed away and Andreas Eisbacher joined us in his place.
\nAt the time of our foundation \u2013 four out of five singers were active farmers with their own dairy farm \u2013 we were learning a difficult five-part yodel called \u201cDa Kiam\u00f6cher\u201d (Austrian dialect for \u201cthe milker\u201d) \u2013 and this is where our name comes from.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][vc_column parallax=”content-moving-fade” css_animation=”fadeInDown” width=”1\/3″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1519331451778{padding-top: 5px !important;}”][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n
